Serra da Tiririca State Park
The scenic beauties of landscapes, natural monuments, archaeological sites and other cultural assets, trails, outdoor activities such as abseiling, climbing and as well as, the Darwin Path.
The region of Serra da Tiririca is rich in vestiges of archaeological sites, mainly in Itaipu where there are important sambaquis, records of the existence of prehistoric populations of varied traditions that have happened in the local (Beltrão, 1978). When the European colonization began in Rio de Janeiro, the region was inhabited by Tamoios tribes, and in the mid-sixteenth century the Jesuits built buildings for the catechesis of the Indians in Itaipu.
Costão de Itacoatiara
The Costão de Itacoatiara is a large rock that stands in one of the corners of the beach of the same name and is in the Oceanic Region of Niterói, a neighboring municipality of Rio de Janeiro.
From the top of Costão, we can see the beach of Itacoatiara, a small part of Enseada do Bananal and Rio, distant and always beautiful. It draws attention to the intensity of the blue sea, so deep and different from what we normally see.
