Founded in the middle of the 18th century, it is today a place of great historical and cultural value, possessing as marks of the faith and saga of the bandeirantes the Mother Church of Nossa Senhora do desterro do Desemboque and the Church of Nossa Senhora do Rosário. Desemboque was one of the most important places of that great extension of land, situated between the rivers Grande and Parnaíba, in the limits of the captaincies of Minas Gerais and Goiás.

In 1816, Dom João VI, then in Rio de Janeiro, detached the judges of Araxá and Desemboque from the Goias captaincy and annexed them to the Villa of Paracatu do Príncipe. The hinterland at this time was a boil. The beaten and skirmished Caiapós looked for the gaps of Goiás and, in the plates of the triangle Mineiro, was established the strip of foundation of the city (Uberaba).

Allan Kardec College:

The College Allan Kardec, created with the name Liceu Sacramento in 1902, was a teaching institution in the city of Sacramento, Minas Gerais, considered the first educational institution with foundations of the Spiritist pedagogy. Designed and founded by the educator and médium Euripides Barsanulfo, the college ministered a regular curriculun course and the teaching of the Spiritist Doctrine. Provided an exquisite free education to thousands of poor and orphaned people. It is still considered an example of differentiated education and currently functions as a museum, a memorial to Eurípedes and a spiritist center.

istoric Museum of Sacramento - Coralia Venites Maluf:

Inaugurated in January 1983 by the then Mayor Dr. José Alberto Bernardes Borges, the Museum has in its collection pieces that tell the history of the city, its foundation and consolidation as a prosperous municipality.

In the museum, you'll find, for example, Sacramento's oldest wall phone, or the city's first radio. The first Constitution of the Municipality, an original piece, is also on display on a glass-protected case. It is a true journey into the past, which makes us know a little more about our origins. There is also a graduation frame from Sacramento High School, class of 1933. Check out the photos below that show some pieces, but it is important to visit in person and check out the entire collection.

The museum is open from Sunday to Monday, closing Monday and Tuesday every 15 days. Admission is free.

Rio Grande Dam:

Cipó is a Rural District of Sacramento on the banks of the Jaguara Dam in the Rio Grande. Place of unparalleled beauty and nature houses several ranches and the old Railway Station. There is the possibility of camping in the region, and in several points you can bathe in the dam. Here is held the River Procession of Our Lady Aparecida.

Waterfalls of the region:

Sacramento has more than 220 cataloged waterfalls.

We recommend hiring a guide, to visit some of the private properties, a small fee is charged.
All are cataloged in the site

Casca D'Anta Waterfall:

Casca D'Anta Waterfall has a free fall of 186 meters. The name comes from the tree Bark D'Anta (Drimys winteri) which, in turn, was thus baptized because it has healing properties. According to the researchers, the tapir is rubbed on the trunk of the tree to heal superficial wounds.

Rolinhos Waterfall:

The Rolinhos Waterfall, about 300 meters long, is the largest in Canastra, but it is impossible to see it from the upper part of the Park (see below for Particular Areas in the topics below). Even so, the place is of incredible beauty, starting with a smaller waterfall, formed about a thousand meters before, known as the Colibri or Rasga Canga. There are also several good natural pools for swimming and even snorkeling. On long holidays, try to get there early so you will not be bothered by too many people. Important: at the smallest rainfall in the headwaters of the river, the place should be abandoned, especially if you decided to make the trail that leads from the natural pool to the lower part of the Rasga Canga Waterfall, since it is necessary to cross the river on the way to and from the river.

Waterfall of Parida:

According to the legends, they say that on the top of the plateau of the canastra came a troop, and among them, there was a pregnant slave who went into labor in the Chapadão, then the head of the expedition asked to make a stop on the edge of a Stream for the girl to give birth, since then this stream has been named as STREAM OF PARITY. Certainly is a worthwhile tour, this is one of the 220 waterfalls we have cataloged in our county of SACRAMENTO, a beauty that must be preserved and It sure has to be appreciated.

João Inácio Waterfall:

About 65 km of dirt road towards the Serra do Canastra National Park we find this wonderful waterfall called João Inácio in honor of a former owner. It is located 15 km from the District of Desemboque, a totally wild waterfall, a great option for practicing Rappel, among other adventures like Treeking and camping.

GROTTO DOS PALHARES (not to be missed):

It is the largest Botucatu Sandstone Cave in the Americas, 450 meters deep and 22 meters high. It was discovered in the middle of the 19th century and houses several species of birds characteristic of the region. For safety, visitation is allowed only in the first two caves, the exploitation of the others are only possible with special authorization.

An image of Nossa Senhora da Rosa Mística located in one of the cavities of the Grotto receives faithful throughout the year, with demonstrations of love and faith.

In front of the Grotto there are public facilities, with swimming pools, children's playground, restaurant and bar.

The place is easy to reach, just 10 km from the city center, by the Municipal Highway Antenor Duarte Vilela, all paved.

It is a few minutes from our SAMBA Viva Hotel! Sacramento

Serra da Canastra has a trunk shape, a name of origin and an antique chest type. A waterfall Casca d'Anta with approximately 186 meters of height and one of the main attractions of the Park, leaving a natural cut of the Sierra of approximately 144 meters, or a height of the Mountain reaches 330 meters. The São Francisco River rises 14 miles before this major fall.

The Park protects a scenery of rare beauty, its transitional vegetation between an "edge of the Atlantic Forest" and the "beginning of the Cerrado", with predominance of Altitude Fields that shelter numerous species of fauna and flora of the cerrado, such as the guará wolf , the anteater, the deer, various hawks and endangered species such as the duck loon and the armadillo-canastra.

Water is the preponderant factor in the park, whose springs, which reach hundreds, arise due to the humidity that a cold rock absorbs the air, especially in the night.

The São Francisco river has its historical source in the Serra da Canastra, more precisely in the municipality of São Roque de Minas and its first great waterfall, the Casca d'Anta, 186 meters high, is in the district of São José do Barreiro (MG) ), And its access is done through the entrance 4 of the National Park, located in this district.

Canyon of the Azulinho:

The Azulinho waterfall is located in the municipality of Sacramento-MG, in the Castigliano stream. According to popularly stated, the name "Azulinho" was given to the place by the nickname of the owner of the property. The region is full of continuous falls of waterfalls, worth checking out.

As you may note, Sacramento is a wonderful destination full of attractions to keep in your memory and heart!
